Israel-OPT: displaced families from Jerico sent to Hebron area

August 23rd, Um-Faqqara, Southern Hebron Hills

Volunteers of Operation Dove visited a new familiy settled down in Um-Faqqara four weeks ago.

The head of the familiy reports that he’s been forced to live the house and properties, placed in Bardale village (close to El-Tiftlek, Jerico) by IDF soldiers. His family owns some dunums of land in Um-Faqqara.
They were living there from 12 years.

Update from At-Tuwani and Masafer Yatta / 18-23 August 2005

Thursday, 18th
16.00 two settlers riding horses come near At Tuwani, close to the last house of the village, and ride back in the direction of Ma’on settlement.
17.00 IDF hammer drives across the village.

Friday, 19th
09.30 two IDF jeeps come from Um Faqqara, stop for a while outside At Tuwani village, then go inside Hill 833 outpost.
09.50 IDF hammer comes from the main road 317, crosses the village, passes in front of the shop then goes back to the road, stops for 10 minutes outside the last house, then leaves.
19.30 two IDF jeeps stop for half an hour on the hill above At Tuwani, on the side of Ma’on settlement.

Update: At-Tuwani and Masafer Yatta / 28th July – 4th August 2005

Thursday 28th
At-Tuwani “flying check point�, soldiers forced a young Palestinian to run

At 05.30 p.m. check point in the entrance of At-Tuwani, near road 317.
Soldiers stopped a Palestinian car driving to Carmel-Yatta with two persons.
After checking the car, soldiers forced one of the two Palestinians to run for 30 meters, stop few seconds and run back to the car. Soldiers forced the Palestinian two time. Two OD ers watched this fact in the distance.
At 09.00 p.m. check point in the entrance of the village. Soldier stopped a car driving to At-Tuwani from Carmel-Yatta. After few minutes they left the car go.

Friday 29th
Soldiers stopped an Italian delegation in At-Tuwani “flying check point�.

At 05.30 p.m. check point in the entrance of the village, near road 317. Soldiers stopped a van driving from At-Tuwani to Carmel-Yatta. Inside the van there was a group of Italians visiting At-Tuwani village. Soldiers stopped the group for more than 10 minutes, so that the Italians had to call OD ers asking them to come to the place.
As soon as two ODers and one Cpt arrived in the place the soldiers let the group go. ODers and Cpt stayed in the place for around half on hour until soldiers left.

Israel/Palestine: Appeal for saving the Palestinian Christian Community of Aboud

The project of the Wall in the village of Aboud (Ramallah area) is going on and its conclusion is drawing near.
About 2,000 people live in the village. Half of them are Christian, the other half are Muslims. Both of these communities will be deeply affected by the construction of the Wall.

For this reason we ask you to involve your parish and collect signatures to support the appeal below.

At-Tuwani, Southern Hebron Hills, Palestinian Occupied Territories, August 1st 2005

IDF soldiers without respecting Israeli Laws assault a Palestinian shepherd, reporting he was grazing on a land submitted to military closure, actually sustaining the accuses of some nationalist-religious settlers, part of the anti-disengagement from Gaza strip movement.

Today, August 1st 2005, a group of shepherds from the village of At-Tuwani, Southern Hebron Hills, Palestinian Occupied Territories, was grazing the flocks on his lands in the valley near Kharruba, in front of Havat Ma’on outpost.
At around 10.00, the settlement’s security guard came and immediately called the Israeli Army (IDF). (…)

Update: Aboud / 28 July – 1st August

Thursday, 27th
People of the village reports that soldiers entered in the late afternoon with two jeeps and went around the village.

Friday, 28th
15.30 Check point between Deir Ibzi and Ein Arik (IDF jeep #610996) on the two sides of the road.
Two Palestinian guys standing outside their car.

Sunday, 29th
14.30/15.00 Atara Bridge closed in all directions. Two jeeps and 8 soldiers. Two of them stand behind concrete roadblocks, pointing the rifle at the cars. The road gate close to the bridge (on the road coming from Bir Zeit)
is close too. No cars allow to go over.
15.30 the Bridge is open again, so as the road gate.
15.40 check point (one IDF jeep) on the entrance of An Nabi Salih village (near Khalamish). Four taxis and several cars stopped.
15.45 check point on the entrance of Aboud (IDF jeep #669372). Five soldiers on the street, three of them standing and looking inside a house, while the other two were stopping two villagers, one of them around 12 years old.
ODers went to speak with the officer, who refuse to talk with them. They reached the jeep, but the soldiers entered in the car and after few seconds went away.
